Superhero Logo Cake

This superhero cake was for the elder brother of the little boy that I made the baby Avengers cake for last month! Boys will be boys and I guess Superheros will always be a popular theme!

Superhero Logo Cake

The cake is a 6" square, 6-layer rainbow vanilla butter cake, filled with fresh cream. The cake is crumb coated with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream because fresh cream and fondant just don't work well together. The water content in the cream starts to dissolve the fondant, and if left long enough, it'll be a goopy mess.

It is covered with panels of fondant with a different edible icing image supehero logo on every panel. This fondant panel method requires one to be a bit more precise in measuring exactly how big each panel has to be in order to cover the cake without leaving any gaps.

Batman & Spiderman

Flash Gordon & Superman

To top the cake, I put fondant on the back of the edible image speech bubble so that it would stiff enough to stand up on the cake. All these logos and the speech bubbles were done up by the birthday boy's awesome mummy!

Pop-out speech bubbles

I'm lovin' the superhero action bubble candles!! Perfect touch to this Superhero cake. Happy 4th Birthday, Leroy!
