Trump Kim Summit Cookies

June 12th, 2018 marked a historical day for the world: a landmark face-to-face meeting between the President of the United States of America, and the leader of North Korea. And Singapore had the honour of hosting this high-stakes event.

Everyone has high hopes on the Summit's main pathforward: for North Korea to work towards complete denuclearization. This is a "good preclude to peace" in the words of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. U.S. President Donald Trump declared that he was "very proud of what took place today."

To say that a lot of people have been working very hard to make this meeting possible, is a gross understatement. As a small thank you gift to some of these civil servants, I baked up a bunch of cookies to commemorate this event

The cookies are vanilla sugar cookies, flavoured with a hint of lemon. I flooded them with light grey tinted royal icing and simply laid an edible printed image on top. The image was sourced from Canadian Association Singapore's instagram feed. (Whoo! Canada!)

The takeaway from the homily this past Sunday was #truth: peace comes from the heart. We can talk all we want about taking away weapons, but we still have our fists and our legs and our tongues to hurt each other with. Let's work with each other to open our hearts and constantly continue to strive for World Peace.
