Star Wars Macaron Tower cake* |
The cake is the most popular flavour: devil's food cake filled with whipped dark chocolate ganache. It is frosted with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream, dyed black with gel food colouring. I speckled "stars" all over using Edible Art Paint flicked on with a paintbrush.

I cut the birthday girl's name out of fondant, in Star Wars font, and moulded Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper's heads too. I haven't used those moulds in quite a long while, since these cupcakes for Uniqlo's Star Wars line launch!

The highlight of the cake though, was this out-of-this-world Star Wars macaron tower, done up by the talented Milleaville Macarons. Along with the millennium falcon, the macaron tower featured the birthday girl's other top favourite characters: Darth Vader, R2D2! I love how R2D2 has a little light saber! The macarons are filled with milk chocolate, dark chocolate and mint chocolate ganache. There was also a large 10cm Millennium Falcon macaron to decorate the side of the cake, specially for the birthday girl!

When ordering a cake+macaron tower combo, if you are opting for self-collection, there is a bit of assembly required when you get to your venue, cuz the macaron tower cannot be secured onto the cake for transport. Also, the macaron on the top-most of the tower needs to be placed at the venue so there's no risk of toppling.

Our client did an awesome job (2nd time's a charm!) assembling the macaron tower on top of her cake! Birthday girl Yvonne absolutely loved her surprise birthday cake! *Here's a pic of the assembled cake, shared by the client:
