Move over cake pops! Say hello to cake popsicles, aka cakesicles. Ok so cakes on a popsicle stick isn't exactly new, per say. But the trend didn't really catch on until this brilliant dude from Melbourne started posting his creations on Instagram early last year and made them the hot new trend! Yep, I'm talking about the one and only Raymond Tan, @rymondtn!

I had to ship Silikomart molds across the Pacific from Amazon earlier this year (but of course China has caught up and you can now get cheap knock-offs from Taobao). So, because they are cakes, you don't get the cracking problem when you dip them in chocolate, which often happens to regular cake pops that have buttercream mixed into them. Yay!

Cake popsicles are well, popsicle-shaped, which means that they are rectangularish and have a lot of decorating potential. They're great for animals, cartoon faces and of course, unicorns!

I was so glad to get the opportunity to create a whole lot of cakesicles in Raymond Tan-style, with silver leaf, edible flowers, shiny gold and unicorns!
Cake Popsicle Assortment |
The cakesicles are funfetti cake baked from scratch, and dipped in white chocolate. I went with white, pink and a marble made from swirling some dark chocolate dyed black, into the white chocolate.
