Tokidoki Seapunk Sugar Cookies |
The birthday girl, mummy blogger behind Hello Mrs. Tan, has a very healthy obsession with these Tokidoki characters and has a very impressive collection of Ju-Ju-Be bags. (she's always sporting a different one when I check out her IG feed!) Anyway, she's an August baby, like I am, and her friends naturally wanted to go the Tokidoki Seapunk route for the birthday cookies.
Ju-Ju-Be x Tokidoki Seapunk score! |
I went straight to Google and zoomed in on the print cuz I couldn't find images of each individual character. After taking a screenshot and resizing the characters I had picked using Powerpoint, I printed and cut them out, using the paper cutouts as a template to cut the cookies from the cookie dough using a sharp knife.
free-hand outlining in progress |
I used an edible marker to sketch out the details on each cookie, before drawing over the lines using royal icing. You have to let the black royal icing outline dry completely before going back in to flood the cookies, otherwise you risk the black bleeding into the other colours.
Seapunk cookies! |
It is quite time consuming to dye royal icing all the different colours needed for each of the different designs, but these cookies are just more happy when there are a lot of different characters and colours altogether!
hello Sirena and twin mermicorno |
Marea "finding Nemo" mermicorno and rainbow Narwhal |
Perla mermicorno, with her dolphin cutie mark |
I let the cookies dry completely in a well-airconditioned room overnight so the icing would be nice and hard and the cookies could be stacked.

Donutella's "cat-fish" and a cute little sea star |
These Tokidoki Seapunk cookies turned out really well!! And the birthday girl couldn't have been more pleased! Her gal pals surprised her half an hour to midnight, just before her actual birthday, with a plate of these cookies! I just love the hot pink shaded plate that they chose to present the cookies on. It even had a hole where a candle fit perfectly!
Happy Birthday, Mrs. Tan! |
