Fuzzy Elmo Cake & macarons

Happy New Year, everybody! Welcome 2017! And what better way to start the year, than with a fuzzy wuzzy Elmo cake!

Happy New Year!

The Elmo cake is a smaller 6" version than my first fuzzy Elmo cake. This cake is 4 layers of yummy Devil's food cake, filled with luscious whipped dark chocolate ganache, and decorated with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, piped fur-style, using tip no. 233. His eyes, nose and mouth are made out of fondant. His nose is a bit on the heavy side, so I was contemplating using rice Krispies covered in fondant like I did for the bigger version Elmo cake, but by letting his nose dry completely first, and then stabbing it into the cake using a chopstick for support, everything worked out fine.

To go with Elmo, there were also red and yellow macarons, filled with smoked salted caramel and lemon meringue. They were packaged in gift bags, with personalised, custom-designed gift tags. The person had requested for a dumbbell on the gift tag (not sure what that has to do with Elmo!) so here's what I came up with.
