May the 4th be with you! What's a more perfect date for Uniqlo to launch their new Star Wars Collection than on Star Wars day! I was lucky to be presented with the opportunity to make the cookies and cupcake toppers for a Star Wars themed dessert table in conjunction with this launch!
|
Star Wars Sugar Cookies |
The Star Wars cookies are sugar cookies, flavoured with vanilla and a hint of lemon. Yoda, Darth Vader & C3PO were a breeze to cut out, thanks to handy plunger cookie cutters.

this print would be cool on a T-shirt or bedsheet! |
I decorated them with fondant, again using the same plunger cookie cutters, but I wanted the characters to pop, so I used some royal icing to outline their features.
|
Yoda cookies, these are. Haaaaa. |
|
Vader head cookies |
For C3PO, I dry brushed these cookies with Rolkem Super Gold, to give them a nice metallic finish. PS, loving' my new black slate plate!

shiny gold C3PO cookies |
Instead of making Chewbacca sugar cookies using the same plunger cutters, I made chocolate Wookiee cookies! They're basically the same sugar cookie recipe, with cocoa powder added in to get the colour.
|
Wookiee Cookie Army |
Just like with these Wookiee cookies, I used a gingerbread man cookie cutter, poked the dough with a fork before baking and then decorated them with a black fondant shoulder belt with white royal icing dots.

I also got to make Darth Vader & Storm Trooper fondant cupcake toppers. Got to put my Darth Vader and Storm Trooper moulds to good use again to make these babies :D
|
Vader & Storm Trooper Cupcake Toppers |
Darth Vader is straightforward to make. Pop the fondant into the mould, scrape off the excess and then use a toothpick to gently pry out the moulded head. Before you know it, boom, you've got yourself 2 dozen fondant Darth Vader heads.

spooky Darth Vader fondant heads |
The Storm Troopers were made in the same way, but using white fondant. But, Storm Troopers wouldn't look right if they were just all white. I coloured in their eyes, mouth and other features on their helmets using a black edible ink marker, and this made all the difference!

The Star Wars cookies and cupcake toppers joined all these other fantastic desserts on this awesome Star Wars-themed dessert table, by Hokey Pokey. I love the props and details, especially the Darth Vader-style 3-tier stand and the TIE Fighter & Imperial Walker cutouts! Happy Star Wars Day, and congrats to Uniqlo on their product launch!
