"Frozen" snowflake Macarons

My kids had a Christmas party at school today. My daughter's nursery class performed a dance routine to the Chinese rendition of Jingle Bells. But by perform I mean the kiddies swayed side to side ever so slightly, occasionally making motions with their hands, while staring blankly at their too-into-it teacher who was desperately trying to get them to follow the dance moves. Hehe, can't expect much out of 2-3 year olds.

My son's kindergarten class did a routine to the tune of We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The routine was odd in that the girls and boys were separated throughout the performance, with each taking turns to appear at the front, before finally coming together to wish all the parents a very Merry Christmas. At least my kid was front and center so I got to take a good pic of him. (Yipes, I'm turing into a stage parent!)

Anyway, after all the performances, the school treated the parents to some light refreshments. I always like to contribute to the food, and this year, I brought some "Frozen"-style macarons. The macarons are filled with dark chocolate ganache and decorated with a fondant snowflake, which I attached on just using a bit of water.

The "Frozen" macarons were totally a hit! I mean, the whole Frozen movie phenomena is still sweeping the globe, and this Christmas party had its fair share of little girls, dressed up as the famous Elsa & Anna. People were taking 3-4 cookies at a time and they were all gone in less than 10 minutes! Too bad there weren't any left for the teachers to try. Oops. Will have to bake up a special batch just for them.
