Another cake to celebrate teachers! I'm glad people are generous and grateful, cuz seriously, isn't it easier to just give you teacher an apple? Teachers sure do deserve appreciation and gratitude for all their hard work. They put up with a lot. I don't think I have the patience to teach my kids all the things they learn at school!
This Teacher's Day Cake is a Devil's Chocolate Food Cake filled with alternating layers of whipped chocolate ganache and chocolate German buttercream. Mmm German buttercream. It's like a smooth, silky whipped custard. Infinitely loads better than "American" buttercream which is made using butter and icing sugar.
Here's a close up of the apple. The apple is also made of the same Devil's Chocolate Food cake! No rice krispies cereal treats in this cake. I finally got to use the leaf veiner I bought a while back. It really gives the fondant leaf some character. I'm secretly hoping that someone actually picks up the apple and takes a bite out of it like one would do on a real apple!

apple and a wiggly worm |
There are "crayons" all around the base of the bottom tier, rulers bordering the middle tier and A-B-Cs and 1-2-3s to finish off the sides. The numbers are a little messy because I don't have a numbers stencils/cutters like I do with the letters.
