Disney Princesses! Every little girl's dream birthday theme. I know my super girly middle daughter would totally love this. She loves to pretend she's a princess and be pretty. She loves to wear dresses, have her hair done and paint her nails! The other day, she asked me if I could buy her "high heels, like Princess Elsa." She's only 3 years old!!! Oh boy. I really have no idea where she gets these ideas from because I'm totally not a girly girl!!

Disney Princess-inspired cake |
Anyways, back to the Disney Princess party. I got to make cake pops, cupcakes, cookies and the birthday cake for a lovely little girl's first birthday celebration! I decided to use a pink, blue and yellow colour scheme as a base for the desserts, instead of going with a particular princess, crowns or faces. This way, each of the princesses can be represented in the bakes!

The cake pops are chocolate and strawberry cake, swirled with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and dipped in white chocolate dyed with candy oil. For the pink cake pops, I dipped them in pink strawberry chocolate. Before the chocolate coating had fully hardened, I sprinkled the cake pops with coloured sanding sugar, adding a glam, princessy feel to them!

The cupcakes are yummy lemon cupcakes, frosted with lemon Swiss meringue buttercream in pink, yellow and blue. I added some sugar pearls in the centre of each buttercream rose swirl to make the cupcakes more special. It's a princess party, after all.

The star cookie pops are made in the same way as these cookies, but with light pink, blue and yellow fondant instead. The important thing to make sure of when making cookie pops, is that the lollipop stick must be completely encased in the cookie dough after they're inserted, or they may fall off after baking! I use this method by the talented Sweetapolita for my cookie pops.

The 2-tier birthday cake is the ever-popular Devil's Food Cake, filled with whipped dark chocolate ganache. The cake is decorated with a mix of fondant and buttercream, with a few Disney Princess toy figurines as cake toppers.

Pretty cake for a little princess |
To make the cake even more princessy, I used baby pink disco dust to add some sparkle to the birthday girl's name! It went perfectly with the matching glittery number 1 provided by her mummy!

Hello, Mulan & Snow White |
The bottom tier of the cake was decorated with a lovely shade of yellow buttercream, piped in rose swirls using a 1M piping tip. I love the effect of having both fondant and buttercream on the cake... like a poofy princess dress! The fondant bow and Disney princess figurines completed the look for this cake. I love that the birthday girl's mummy chose Mulan to be on top! She's such an under-rated princess because she's not "girly" and doesn't live in a palace like the other Disney princesses. But that doesn't make her any less special!

All these pink, yellow and blue desserts were put together on a lovely Disney Princess-themed dessert table, styled by the birthday girl's talented mummy! She even sourced for the super cute mini star wands from overseas and made all the stands herself!
