One Punch Man Cookies

I like to think that I'm pretty up to speed with the latest cartoons out there, but every now and then, I get a request do something in a cartoon theme that I've never heard of. This was the case for these One Punch Man cookies! I was stressing about making them cuz I find human characters very hard to do in edible form.

One Punch Man Cookies

These cookies were a big boy turning 12 years old. I had made him a Roblox birthday cake for his 10th birthday a couple years ago, but now that he's older, he's into more "adult" cartoons. Too bad it's not Pokémon or Mickey Mouse anymore! Lol.

Anyway, I printed the One Punch Man images out on paper and used that as a guide to cut the shapes out of cookie dough with a knife. Once the cookies were baked and cooled, I free-hand drew the characters onto the cookie using a black edible ink food marker.

It took me a while to tint the royal icing to the colours that matched the images, and also to thin the icing out to 15 second flooding consistency. After that, it was pretty much adult colouring, filling in the sections with different colours, waiting for neighbouring sections to dry before filling in the next section so that there would be a clean division between them and not have the colours "flood" into each other.

I'm pretty happy with how these challenging cookies turned out! Here's a side-by-side of the cookies vs. the cartoon.

The birthday boy's mummy used some of the cookies to top a store-bought chocolate cake to surprise her son for his birthday. He looks pretty happy with his surprise! Happy 12th birthday, Hector!
