Princess Tsum Tsum Steamed Blossoms

Since I had so much fun making the Little Twin Stars steamed blossoms for the girls' catechism teachers, and I still had ingredients to finish up before we leave, I decided to make more steamed blossoms for the kids in their catechism class! There were still 4 hours before class was due to start and I had time on my hands anyway. Luckily, steamed blossoms are quick to whip up compared to say, a 2-tiered fondant cake ;P

Princess Tsum Tsum Steamed Blossoms

I decided on Princess Tsum Tsums, cuz my girls love Disney Princesses. The older one's fave is Belle, and the younger one loves Cinderella. In fact, the younger one says "Look mama, that's me!" when we watch the Cinderella movie. Haha.

Can you name all the princesses?

I went with Belle, Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine and Alice (ok ok so Alice isn't technically a princess, but her colours worked with the others). This time I whipped up the full recipe from Simmami, which made about 40 steamed blossoms. I divided the batter up into 6 bowls and dyed them yellow, light blue, red, brown and black plus the natural "flesh" colour for the princess' faces.

2nd batch of princess tsum tsums

Whatever design you draw on really becomes much bigger after steaming, so if you are want to end up with a thin line, draw it as thin as you can with the batter. I intended for the eyes to be a lot smaller than how they came out after steaming! In fact, the princesses look a little scary to me cuz some of them have really big black eyes!

3rd batch, trying for smaller eyes and finer lines

Some of the steamed blossoms are filled with Nutella, and the rest are filled with Trader Joe's crunchy Cookie Butter. Glad I managed to polish off both jars before we leave!

big black eyes on some of these ladies

After I finished off the flesh coloured batter, I couldn't make anymore princesses. So I piped up whatever I could think of using the leftover batter. For yellow, I did Winnie the Pooh! To make the fine lines above his nose and for his eyebrows, instead of piping the batter directly on, I dipped a toothpick in the brown batter and used the toothpick to draw the then lines on. These resulted in a much finer line after steaming (vs. the princess' mouths, which were piped directly on)

super cute Pooh Tsum Tsum steamed blossoms

had the perfect honey bee plate for these Pooh blossoms :)

For the balance red batter, I made SpiderMan type webs. And just random Peace, Love, moustache and bears with the remaining blue and brown batter.

The kids totally loved the steamed blossoms! Of course, the boys attacked the SpiderMan ones, and luckily, there were more than enough Princess Tsum Tsums to choose from for the girls, and everyone got the ones they wanted!

lots of princesses for everyone

love the little smiles!

CGS2018 class

So happy to see all the little smiles as they enjoyed their steamed blossoms after class. My girls will definitely miss all their catechism friends, especially my older girl. She will be moving on to mainstream catechism next year, having completed the CGS program this year. Can't wait for the next occasion to make these steamed blossoms. They really are quite fun to make!
