Animal Cake Pops and Cupcakes

These animal cake pops and cupcakes were for a jungle safari dessert table to celebrate a baby boy's 1st birthday.

The cake pops were chocolate, and decorated as sheep, bunnies and dogs (I don't know how long these animals would last in a jungle, but that's what the client wanted!...haha)

The cake pops were dipped in white chocolate, and decorated with some fondant details. For the bunnies' ears, I cut out some large fondant daisy and used the petals as the ears, letting them dry hard before attaching them onto the cake pop using some melted chocolate before dipping the whole thing in a final chocolate coating. I used melon seeds for the pigs' ears.

bunnies and piggies and dogs, oh my!

The cupcakes were lemon frosted with Swiss meringue buttercream. This cupcake design was interesting because it minimized the use of fondant! I used Callebaut crunchy Crispearls for the eyes, caramel popcorn for the lion's mane, and bits of Pocky sticks for the giraffe's antennae! The rest of the details were pretty much done in buttercream! Loved making this jungle animal cupcake set!

The animal cake pops and cupcakes joined a host of other treats on All Mommy Wants' jungle safari themed dessert table! Check out the huge 1m-tall giraffe plush and those cute hanging monkeys! Love the animal cutouts spelling the birthday kid's name too.

Happy 1st Birthday, Gareth!
