Mini Cupcakes with Blue Heart

These bite-sized mini cupcakes were for welcome party for a little baby boy. It was actually a last minute request and the cupcakes were needed in a few hours time! Apparently the mummy had mixed up the date of the party, which was actually today, and not tomorrow!! Her original baker wasn't back from vacation yet, so she was stuck in a bind to have cupcakes at the party!

Red Velvet Mini Cupcakes

As if I didn't have enough on my plate this weekend, I decided to help her out and whip out a couple dozen red velvet mini cupcakes, frosted with a mini swirl of vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream.

While the cupcakes were in the oven, I had some time to cut out cute little blue fondant hearts with a plunger cutter, to top the cupcakes with as an extra detail. I also sprinkled the cupcakes with teeny white nonpareils. I couldn't just leave the cupcakes plain and unadorned. Hehe.

The blue elephant-themed dessert table, put together My Sweet Secrets, turned out pretty well, considering some of the edible items had to be sourced for in such a short time! I like the glittery, hand-cut elephant toppers and the paper toppers on the macarons! That's a new idea I haven't seen before. Welcome, baby boy Julien!
