Welcome Cake

My good friend gave birth to her second baby boy on Halloween! We are going to the hospital today to visit her and baby Connor. I made her strawberry cake filled with strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream and sliced fresh strawberries, decorated simply with sliced strawberries. 



When I first wrote out the "Congratulations", I actually ran out of room! A good tip is that if you make the same mistake, do NOT try and scrape it off immediately because this will totally mess up the white icing underneath. Instead, just pop the cake in the fridge for 5 minutes and then carefully lift off the writing, scrape any remaining black bits off using the tip of a sharp knife, and then re-write your message (and this time, try not to run out of space! ;) )
