Flower Cupcakes

My kids' godmother's birthday is also in October. See, lots of October birthdays! (January must be a good time to make babies! Haaa.) I wanted to surprise her with some flower cupcakes! She normally doesn't like desserts, but hopefully she likes these cupcakes! They're Devil's Food Cake cupcakes, frosted with pureéd fresh strawberry Swiss meringue buttercream. They've got big flavours without being too sweet.


Flower Cupcakes

I made similar flowers to the ones I made for this cupcake flower bouquet, except instead of chrysanthemums, I made a sunflower. It's essentially the same exact technique as making a chrysanthemum, except the middle part has crushed black cookies (like Oreos) instead of frosting. The centre of the hydrangeas were accented with pink sugar pearls



My son made a birthday card, and my daughter decorated the envelope and stuck on some stickers for their godma. I love his crazy penmanship and imagination.
