Artist's Paint Palette Cake

Usually, kids have their birthdays in an indoor playground or at a swimming pool. I think it's cool that this birthday girl is having an Art Jam party with her friends to celebrate her birthday, set in an art studio!

In line with the theme, the birthday girl got an artist's paint palette birthday cake! Her favourite colours are turquoise, aqua and purple, so those are the colours I used, ombre-style, using dyed vanilla buttercream. It was really fun to make these colours!

The cake itself is vanilla cake, with surprise turquoise, blue and purple cake balls inside. Too bad I didn't take a picture of it before I decorated the cake! It'll be super fun for the kids to see what colour their slice of cake is.

To add some more details, I made a fondant paint brush and a fondant tube of paint. To get the look of a real paint brush, I lightly dented the bristles with a sharp knife.

For more fun, I actually painted on the fondant-covered cake board, using a paint brush (that I only use for cakes) and the different colours of buttercream! I hope the birthday girl and her guests have as much fun eating this cake as I did making it!

Happy 12th Birthday, Kyndall!
