Project Elmo cake was so fun! Rolling the rainbow coloured balls took some time but was quite therapeutic in a way.
Here's the bottom tier of Rigel's 1st Birthday cake! The swirl is made with the leftover yellow from the outline of the sign and thought it looked cute to put on the cake. The cake is 3 layers of orange chocolate chunk cake, filled with whipped dark chocolate ganache. There's the zest and juice of 8 whole Valencia oranges in this baby!
To top off the cake, here's Elmo! He's made of the same orange chocolate chunk cake. Piping his vanilla buttercream "fur" was so fun. It took so much gel red food colouring to get the fur this colour (try a 1/2 ounce of pink & 4 oz of "no taste" red!). His eyes, nose and arms are made from rice krispie treats.
It was so exciting to collaborate with Dawn from Lovewithdetails again for this Elmo themed birthday celebration! She did a fantabulous job with the table deco! I love all the attention to detail and how Elmo is incorporated into everything! Osome job!!
Happy 1st Birthday, Rigel! |
