Rock Star Party

My colleague's wife was planning a surprise party for her husband's birthday. He loves playing the guitar, drums and keyboard! It was going to be a rock star party! I was so excited to finally do a party together in collaboration with Dawn from lovewithdetails! I'd make the cake and she would do the decor for the main table! 

So what cake would be suitable for a rock star party? A cake with a complete drum set on it! Since the birthday boy had a gold and black drum set, that would be the colour theme for the party.

The cake was a 12" vanilla cake with alternating layers of vanilla French and German buttercream. The drums were made of rice krispie treats. I love the little details on the drums. The rivets took a while but they were worth it. And everything was painted with gold and silver luster dust for that rock star look!

Lovewithdetails did a great job decorating the table! From the microphone pops to the keyboard cookies and "drumsticks". It really made the party feel rock n' roll!
