Race Track Cake

This race track cake is for car-loving birthday boy, Evan! I suggested a naked rainbow cake, similar to this race track cake, but the birthday boy wanted chocolate! Evan's mummy is one of my biggest supporters, and she's a chocoholic, so she had no objections with the flavour he picked!

The cake is perfect for chocolate lovers: decadent Devil's Food Cake, filled with rich whipped dark chocolate ganache, iced with more dark chocolate ganache, and bordered with Callebaut dark chocolate Crispearls! Yummy!

To decorate the cake, there is a fondant race track oval, surrounded by green vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream grass, piped with tip no. 233. The lines on the track were piped on with royal icing.

To add some colour, rainbow Happy Birthday flag bunting was added to the front of the cake, with the raised letters painted white using Americolor Bright White food colouring to make them pop.

Ready. Set. Go!!

To finish the cake, I made pop up letters of the birthday boys name, and added a few toy cars on top! Evan was so happy to see this race track cake, with a couple of his favourite cars too! Glad to hear that Evan's chocolate-loving mummy and all their friends enjoyed the cake! Happy 5th Birthday, big guy!
