Mickey Tsum Tsum Desserts

To celebrate a little boy's 1st birthday, his parents held a Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum party! They wanted the party to be really colourful, instead of traditional yellow/red/black Mickey colours, so bright colours like red, orange, blue and green were incorporated into the desserts as well.

For the cupcakes, there were chocolate cupcakes with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream frosting and dark chocolate crispy pearls and rainbow nonpareil sprinkles.

The other cupcake was a strawberry cupcake, frosted with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and decorated with mini chocolate covered lentils and more rainbow nonpareils.

The cake pops were red velvet cake, crumbled and swirled with vanilla buttercream, and dipped in white chocolate, dyed using candy oil. I rolled the cake pops in coloured sugar before the chocolate coating fully dried. I love the carnival feel that the colourful stripey straws add! The super cute Mickey Tsum Tsum paper toppers were done up by One and Only Gallery.

The colourful macarons were filled with dark chocolate ganache, smoked salted caramel and lemon curd, in a pillow of vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream.

The cookies were made in Mickey Tsum Tsum style, to match the Mickey on the banner. The faces were made using a 4-petal flower cutter. My new oval plunger cutters really came in handy to make the eyes and noses. The crowns were moulded using a silicone mold.

The cupcakes, cake pops, macarons and cookies were styled on this colourful dessert table, done by One and Only Gallery. I love the Mickey cutouts, the hanging bunting and the polka dots! Even the high chair had bunting and balloons!
