In addition to the animal train cake on birthday boy Ryno's dessert table, I made cake pops, cookies and mini cupcakes. The cake pops are chocolate and strawberry cake pops. They're dipped in compound chocolate and decorated animal print-style: tiger, leopard, zebra & giraffe!

Animal Print Cake Pops |
It was my first time doing animal print cake pops, and, as usual, I winged it! After dipping the round cake balls into melted chocolate and letting them dry fully, I drew on the different animal prints, using dark chocolate and a toothpick! They turned out pretty well, I think!

I really wanted to find some nice "safari" themed wrapping paper or at the very least, green wrapping paper to wrap my DIY cake pop stand in, but I didn't have time to shop and ended up just going with a light blue wrapping. Thank goodness the Lovewithdetails team thought of a genius way to integrate the cake pop stand with the rest of the table...by using strips of green crêpe paper!
For the sugar cookies, again, I took inspiration from the backdrop, and made train cookies, rhinos, tigers, elephants and hippos! I really wanted to have zebras and monkeys but I didn't have suitable cookie cutters to make them.

In fact, I only had panda cookie cutters that I made do with to make the rhinos and tigers! In hindsight, I probably could've made monkeys using the panda cookie cutters too...but definitely not a zebra!

Animal Train sugar cookies |
The sugar cookies are all decorated with fondant. The train cookies are in the same colour scheme and style as the train on the cake! I just love the additional detail of the number 1. Choo-Choo!! All aboard the animal train!

The "perky bottomed" elephant cookies made a reappearance, but this time in blue, instead of in pink and grey! Do their bums really look all that perky? Haha.
Lastly, I made vanilla mini cupcakes, frosted with vanilla bean crème Mousseline and topped with a fondant circle in animal print deco. I rolled together different fondant colours to create the tiger, zebra & giraffe prints. The leopard print was drawn on using balck edible food marker.
It was literally a zoo putting together this dessert table, in a cramped space, where the tables provided by the caterer very nearly didn't fit into designated area in the room! Lovewithdetails did an awesome job arranging the table to fit all the desserts and treats, even with only half of the original planned table length!

Animal Safari Dessert Table* |
The table looks rustic and heartwarming, with hand-cut details like the "jungle" table skirting, and the addition of animal figurines and even a wooden animal train! They even added REAL leaves to the table, apparently snipped off from live Bird-of-Paradise plants! Talk about adding personal touches to the table, eh!?
