Superhero Cupcakes

Remember Dylan's vegetable-garden birthday cupcakes last year, where his mummy confused his age with his sister's and got all the toppers printed with "Dylan is 6", when actually, Dylan was only turning 3?? Hahah. Well, this year, Dylan chose Superheroes for his birthday cupcakes! Can't mess his age up cuz again there aren't any numbers on them! Haha.

Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Green Lantern, Captain America & the Flash

The cupcakes are mix of double Vahlrona chocolate cupcakes, and red velvet cupcakes with vanilla Swiss Meringue buttercream frosting.

The fondant toppers featured Batman, Superman, Alibaba and the Chicken Man.

Who's your fave superhero?

Just kidding. Hahah that's a song that my kids always sing! No idea who came up with it or where they learned it from! Anyway, the cupcakes were topped with Batman, Superman, Spiderman, the Flash, Green Lantern and Captain America inspired fondant domes.

I like to pre-shape the fondant toppers into domes by letting the fondant circles dry on top of plastic toy balls, which I use only for making cupcake toppers (don't worry they are well-washed after every use. Can't say the same for those balls in McDonald's ball pits...)

This way, the toppers can be made in advance (make sure that they are completely dry before storing them in an airtight container, or else they will soften and lose shape) and simply placed onto the freshly frosted cupcake. 

I love how bright and colourful this set of Superhero cupcakes turned out to be. Huge smile of approval from the birthday boy for sure! Happy 4th Birthday, super Dylan!
