Paw Patrol Cake and Cake Pops

I got to make a Paw Patrol cake and Paw Patrol cake pops for a little guy's 4th birthday celebration. His mummy wanted to use toy toppers and wanted a clean, neat design with fun little details.

The cake was for a celebration just with close family, so it was a small red velvet cake, but with an extra layer of cake to make it over 5 inches tall. Between the red velvet cake layers was light and fluffy lemon cream cheese Swiss meringue buttercream.

I loved making the little details, like the bones (done without a mould) and the little food bowl, full of kibble!

The most time-consuming part of this whole cake though, is the Paw Patrol logo. So many layers of different colours, all hand-cut using an X-acto knife! But the effort was so worth it cuz it came out pretty nice.

In the end, there was only enough room for the birthday boy's fave character on top: Marshall in his red firetruck!

The cake pops are vanilla cake, swirled with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, dipped in white chocolate dyed using candy oil, and sprinkled with colour-coordinating sanding sugar.

The Paw Patrol character paper toppers were from All Mommy Wants, and they matched perfectly with the sanding sugar cake pops!

who's your fave Paw Patrol character?

I arranged one of each of the cake pop characters around the cake, on the fondant-covered cake board, using a little melted white chocolate to stick them down. Love how the cake turned out! Happy 4th birthday, Ian!

Paw Patrol, ready to roll!
