gold-dusted macarons on T&E's wedding rehearsal cake |
It is the day before the big day, and I had extra cake from baking the actual wedding cake, so I decided to assemble a simple cake for the rehearsal dinner. I was planning on making konnyaku jelly cups for dessert too, but when the other bridesmaids decided that it would be more fun to have adult Jell-O shots for dessert (hello raspberry vodka!), I opted to not make the jelly.
Jell-O shots, margaritas & cake |
The rehearsal at church was hilarious cuz the priest kept calling my sister "Vanessa". It would be understandable if my sister's name was something along those lines, like Venice, or Vereesa. But her name isn't remotely close. It doesn't even start with a V!! It's EUNICE! Haaaaa.
Chinese take-out buffet |
Anyway, after the rehearsal we all went back to my sister's place to have Chinese take-out for dinner (mmmm Deer Garden beef brisket curry). I got to use the glitzy gold-sequinned tablecloth that I borrowed from One and Only Gallery on the little buffet table to add a little bit of fancy.
details on the cake |
For the cake, it is 4 layers of vanilla sponge cake, filled with juicy chunks of fresh mango, rustically frosted with teal vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, and decorated with gold-dusted macarons (again, extras from baking all those wedding favours!), more chunks of fresh mango, some gold dragees, gold fondant roses and some fancy gold fondant lettering.
a little gold makes everything better |
With slices of mango cake and Jell-O shots for dessert, my sis and her fiancé and our families had a very good time at the rehearsal, indeed! Can't wait for the wedding in a couple of days!!!
