Farewell Cupcakes

These Farewell cupcakes were for a guy named Gai. (haaa.) His assignment in Singapore is finished and he is going back to Thailand. His colleagues were nice enough to throw him a farewell party, with cupcakes for dessert!

Farewell Cupcakes for Gai

The cupcakes are Devil's Food Cake frosted with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream. They are very moist and perfect for chocolate lovers. (I ate the extra few...oops)

To top the cupcakes were letters on backgrounds of three shades of blue, spelling out a farewell and thank you message. I decided to add some texture as well, using different textured rolling pins on the fondant after rolling it out.

For three of the cupcakes, I got to hand-cut and free-hand draw Gai, in cartoon form! He had brown hair in the reference picture I had of him but now his hair is back to black. Looks like he was pretty happy with his cupcakes! Farewell, Gai! Happy trip back to Thailand.
