Frozen Cake Pops

These Frozen cake pops were for a Frozen-themed Christmas day dinner party. All the guests were suppose to bring a "Frozen" dish or present. I hope they didn't have all cold food for dinner!

Elsa, Olaf, Sven & Anna Cake Pops

The Elsa, Anna & Sven cake pops were vanilla cake and the Olaf cake pops were chocolate cake. Both of the cakes were moist enough that, after crumbling, I was able to form the cake into shapes without having to swirl them with buttercream. The cake pops were then frozen solid before dipping them in melted chocolate. For step-by-step instructions on how to make cake pops, do check out my cake pop basics page

For Elsa and Anna, instead of making their faces, I made their dresses and used paper cut-outs to top them. (Many thanks to Sugarena, for the paper cut-outs!) I used white chocolate coloured with candy oil to dip them in, teal for Elsa and purple for Anna. It is important to use oil-based or powdered food colouring when dyeing chocolate as any water-based colours will cause the chocolate to seize and become unusable. The Elsa cake pops were rolled in turqouise sparkling sugar crystals to make her dress look more glitzy and "icy". The paper toppers were stuck onto the lollipop sticks using some melted white chocolate.

Anna Cake Pops

The Sven reindeer cake pops were coated in light brown chocolate, which was just white chocolate mixed with a little dark chocolate. Sven's snout was then dipped into melted dark chocolate. His eyes, nostrils and antlers were all made out of fondant. I think Sven's eyelids just gives him more character and finishes off the look.

Finally, for Olaf, he was dipped in melted white chocolate. He's an off-white colour because white chocolate is not completely white. If you want to have a truly white snowman, please use white candy melts. Olaf's eyes, eyebrows, mouth and twig are made out of fondant. His nose is an orange Choco Mini candy, attached on with a bit of royal icing.

Making Olaf's face!

The cake pop stand is an egg carton (the large kind for 30 eggs), taped onto some styrofoam and covered in Christmas wrapping. It's better if these cake pops are transported standing up instead of lying flat because all that jostling around while en route to the party would probably have knocked some noses and eyeballs off of the cake pops!

I hope the guests at the Frozen Christmas party enjoy biting into their favourite characters from Disney's Frozen for dessert! Merry Christmas, everyone!
