These cake pops are for Olivia's 3rd birthday. Her mummy originally wanted all the cake pops to be Minnie Mouse cake pops, but she showed Olivia the Cookie Monster cake pops from Children's day and Olivia just couldn't get them out of her mind! So half Minnie Mouse and half Cookie Monster cake pops it is! I forgot to take photos of the cake pops before wrapping them up in cellophane. Oops.

Minnie Mouse Cake Pops |
The Minnie Mouse cake pops are made out of chocolate cake, swirled with chocolate buttercream. Mini Oreo cookies were used for the ears. (I almost spelled that "Minnie" Oreos, what with all the Minnie Mouse cakes and cupcakes these days!) I shaved off a bit of the Oreo to make a flat end and stuck that onto the cake pop using some melted chocolate. Making Minnie two-toned is a two-dip process, after the ears were firmly attached on and the chocolate had hardened. First, dip the cake pop halfway into some melted dark chocolate. Then, gently twist the cake pop off the stick and dip the bottom half into some melted pink chocolate. Push the cake ball back onto the stick before the pink chocolate completely dries.
The bow and its dots and the dots on the bottom half of the cake pop and are made out of fondant. The middle of the bow is a pink confetti sprinkle. The embellishments were attached using melted chocolate.

Cookie Monster Cake Pops |
These Cookie Monster cake pops were made exactly the same way as these Cookie Monster cake pops from Children's Day, except I used striped paper straws instead of lollipop sticks. I should mention that the fondant decorations on the cake pops should be allowed to fully harden and dry (in aircon) before packaging the cake pops in cellophane bags. This ensures that the fondant decorations wont sag, sweat or have the colours seep together due to condensation, if the cake pops are kept in the fridge and then taken out again, or kept at room temperature out of aircon.

Pretty arrangement by Olivia's mummy |
Olivia's Mummy arranged the cake pops in a nice pink pail, personalised with the birthday girl's name! I love the colours she used, especially the sparkly stones in different shades of blue! So pretty.
